| NEWS ARCHIVE Fort Drum, NY - September 25, 2008 Today Actus Lend Lease (Actus), Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes and the Thousand Islands Area Habitat For Humanity held an Open House/Ribbon Cutting for two homes built in Watertown. The homes, valued at more than $200,000 each, were constructed solely by Actus, Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes and their subcontractors involved in the massive residential communities initiative on Fort Drum. "We're honored to support Habitat For Humanity and the local community with this donation," Sr. Vice President Army Portfolio Director for Actus Lend Lease, Joe Sharp said. "A home is a place to share with your family. We're proud to provide such a place for our Soldiers, and excited to be able to do the same for our North Country neighbors." This Open House occurs on the 13th consecutive Lend Lease Community Day where all Lend Lease employees around the world are encouraged to give something back to the communities in which they live and work. Since the initiative began in 1996, employees have volunteered over 400,000 hours. "Actus Lend Lease and all sponsors who helped make these two homes possible have shown such dedication and support for the local community through this project. Not only are the lives of the families moving into these homes forever changed, but area businesses and community members have been inspired by your generous support and decided to join with the Thousand Islands Area Habitat for Humanity and build more homes for local families," said Brian Drappo, Building Committee Chairman for Thousand Islands Area Habitat For Humanity. The newest Habitat for Humanity homes are located on Superior Street in Watertown, are 2,300 square feet each and include three bedrooms, two and one half baths, an open kitchen and living area design and garage. Groundbreaking for the homes designed by GYMO Architecture, Engineering and Land Sureveying P.C., was last August. This donation was made possible through the help of more than thirty subcontractors from the Actus/Mountain Community Homes business on Fort Drum. | |
