Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission Statement

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Housing must become a priority! The percentage of people without access to decent and stable housing is rising. Increasing the housing supply across the globe is essential.  Therefore, adequate housing is vitally important to the health of the world’s economies, communities, and populations.

To succeed in the fight against poverty we must support the expansion of housing both as policy and as practice. In Jefferson County, there is an estimated 15.4% of the population living below the poverty level. Lewis County has an estimated 13.5%. Sub-standard and unsafe housing conditions lead to increases in illness, injuries, and  financial burdens.

The world is experiencing a global housing crisis. Event more by 2020 it is estimated the world  population will reach almost 1 billion. It is noteworthy to say that lack of clean water and sanitation claim the lives of more than 1.8 million young children every year. In the United States alone 48.5 million people are living in poverty. Because minimum wage is not keeping up with the rising cost of living many workers are struggling to afford decent housing. Decent affordable, and  stable housing provides more than just a roof over someone’s head. It provides:

  • Stability for families and children
  • A sense of dignity and pride
  • Good health, physical safety and security
